Last week, Lorna, the Lady of http://lornasvoice.wordpress.com presented my blog with the Liebster Award. At first, I wasn’t sure what milestone I had reached to deserve this award. Happy to have won something, but confused as to the details, I read on and was enlightened I wish I could tell you it was because I had a hundred-thousand hits in a period of three months. It wasn’t. But in a lot of ways it’s actually much cooler.
The Liebster Award is given to those bloggers who may not have a huge following (less than 200 subscribers) but deserve recognition for the job that they’re doing. Recognition is awesome. It doesn’t matter if you’re a blogger, a baker or a candlestick maker; we all want it. It’s even better than money. Sort of. Well, it probably depends on how much money you’re talking about. But back to recognition–it means you’re appreciated, respected–it means you’ve done well at something that’s important to you. The really cool thing about the Liebster Award is that we not only receive kudos for the time we bloggers spend wracking our brains and pounding our keyboards into submission, we also have the opportunity to pay it forward.
This is how it works. I’m bestowing the Liebster Award on five truly exceptional bloggers I think are deserving of recognition. In turn, I hope they will pay it forward and present the award to five of their favorite bloggers. Also note that I don’t have a clue as to how many subscribers my chosen five have-I’m simply paying it forward because they’re wonderfully creative and deserve the award.
Now for my acceptance speech. I want to thank Lorna for believing in me enough to trust me with this wonderful award. And I also want to thank Val, a creative writer/artist you can visit at http://absurdoldbird.wordpress.com/ for bestowing this award upon Lorna, because if she hadn’t gotten it, I wouldn’t have gotten it. I’d also like to thank WordPress customer service for not hanging up on me, because I know there were times that they wanted to.
And now, the Liebster Awards go to…
Thanks for sharing your insight, your humor and your time.
